Our History

Foundation

In 2002, Harambee University was founded with the aim of enhancing the development of the education sector in Ethiopia. It quickly gained recognition for its commitment to academic excellence and community development.

Expansion

Harambee University (HU) has been a cornerstone of higher education in Ethiopia since its establishment in 2002. HU has consistently pursued excellence and innovation. The university's expansion is not just a testament to its growth but a reflection of its commitment to making quality education accessible to all.

Nationwide Reach

The main campus of Harambee University is found in Oromia Regional State, Adama City Kebele 12. HU's expansion has been strategic and impactful, with the establishment of seven campuses across Ethiopia, including prominent locations such as Adama Main Campus, Fitche Selale, Bale Robe, Holeta, Awash Lucy, Addis Ababa-Mexico and Abomsa campuses. This expansion ensures that students from various regions have the opportunity to experience HU's transformative education.

Academic Diversity

Offering 10 accredited Undergraduate/Degree programs and two Postgraduate/Master's programs, HU provides a comprehensive educational experience. Fields of study of the university in general range from Accounting and Finance, Businuss Adminstration, Management, Marketing Management, Economics to Computer Science, HNS, Veternary Science, Nursing, Public Health, Pharmacy, Secretary and Surveying catering to over 11,129 and above active students. The university also offers 9 TVET programs, accredited by the Oromia Regional State TVET Bureau, emphasizing vocational training and skill development.

Infrastructure of the University

Facilities include classrooms, IT labs, and demonstration rooms for Clinical Nursing, Pharmacy, and Midwifery Nursing, Services include water, electricity, telephone, broadband, and wireless internet, The University has a library, digital library, e-library, offices, and other facilities, A separate compound is dedicated to Continuing & Distance Education (CDE) and also Adama Campus has 40MB internet access and smart classrooms for postgraduate programs.

Online Learning Innovations

In keeping with global trends, HU has advanced its Ethiopian Online Learning Academy, providing an accredited MBA program online. This initiative ensures that even remote learners can access HU's quality education, reflecting the university's adaptability and forward-thinking approach.

Research and Community Engagement

HU is deeply committed to research, community service, and enhancing university-industry linkages. Since 2016, the university has been actively engaged in research and publication, providing community services, and solving community problems. This engagement not only enriches the academic environment but also contributes to national development.
