Eighth National Research Conference: Propelling Sustainable Development through Business, Technology, and Health

The conference aimed to explore connections between business, technology, and health, and their impact on sustainable development in Ethiopia and beyond. It facilitated dialogue among 211 researchers, policymakers, and professors, presenting 26 research papers on varied topics like technology entrepreneurship and renewable energy. Publications included 250 abstract booklets and 200 conference proceedings to broaden research accessibility. The event enhanced understanding of emerging issues and promoted innovative solutions for sustainable development.

The conference examined the dynamic interplay between technology entrepreneurship and business models, explored taxation challenges within the evolving e-commerce landscape, and delved into the potential of machine learning techniques for combating fake news.

    Researchers shed light on the crucial links between agricultural employment and economic growth, investigated tourism's role in urban poverty reduction, and assessed service quality perceptions within higher education institutions. Additionally, crucial healthcare topics like healthcare provider practices towards Hepatitis B, determinants of acute respiratory infections in children, and medication administration errors among nurses were addressed

      Papers explored the importance of adaptive technology for inclusively integrating visually impaired students into higher education, identified pitfalls of rapid e-teaching adoption during the pandemic, and analyzed the current state of UIL (Universal Instructional Language) implementation in Ethiopian universities. The conference also critically examined academic cheating and its implications for education and peacebuilding.

        Overall, the Eighth National Research Conference served as a vital platform for advancing knowledge, promoting collaboration, and paving the way for a more sustainable future through the lens of business, technology, and health.

        Harambee University witnessed the culmination of academic prowess as postgraduate students successfully defended their theses, a final step towards graduation. Diverse in their learning journeys, the students – encompassing both regular and online modalities – presented their meticulous research, some of which have already been enshrined in the university's research repositories for their exceptional merit.         Sixty-five faculty members take a three-day training on quantitative and qualitative data analysis from October 23 -25, 2022 the whole days in the Postgraduate Program Library.

        Harambee University's Office for the Vice President of Research and Community Service has launched the HARBU Monthly Seminar Series, a platform for faculty to share research and personal growth. Each month, a faculty member presents their research and professional experiences, while staff can invite external professionals to broaden the dialogue. The series, held on the last Friday at 2:00 PM in the Postgraduate Library, also invites postgraduate students, fostering collaborative learning and skill development. This initiative enhances intellectual curiosity, connects the university community, and promotes academic excellence.             Lessons from Indonesian Universities: Dr. Bekele Shibiru, Vice President for Postgraduate Programs and International Relations, embarked on a knowledge journey, sharing valuable lessons gleaned from his experiences with Indonesian universities. This global perspective sparked lively discussions on adapting best practices and nurturing international collaborations.

              Dr. Semu Bacha, Advisor to CEO, shifted the focus to the customer – our students. His thought-provoking presentation examined the intricate link between student satisfaction and building a university of repute, offering strategic insights for enhancing the student experience.

                Dr. Lemma Dadhi, Vice President for Quality Assurance, explored the critical role of textbooks in student success. His comprehensive analysis offered valuable considerations for selecting, utilizing, and even creating effective learning materials.
