Leadership at Harambee University
The chief Executive officer is the overall leader of Harambee University. The CEO is accountable to Harambee General Assembly PLC. The president of the University is also accountable to CEO. There are also some sectors like, legal service, finance controller, strategic planning director are also accountable to CEO. Parallel to CEO advisory board also work with it.
Academic Division Structure
The president of Harambee University is accountable to the CEO. There are important groups who are accountable to the president. These are A/V/President for academic affairs, V/P/ for Research, community service and center of educational quality assurance, V/P/ for Digitalization and online learning, V/P/ for Administration & Finance & V/P/ for postgraduate.
The Academic V/president section is accountable to the University president. This section holistically follows and achieves every activity which is related to academic matters. Different sections are treated under V/P/ and academic affairs. This section has different important sections that include undergraduate, and TVET programs. To manage the section under academic section each the undergraduate section and Technical and Vocational Training distinctly led by its own directors. In addition to this there are different supportive sections like registrar and alumni directorate, student affairs dean, library, exam and testing center. The key structures like Faculty dean's and departments are also managed under the academic section.
Leadership Responsibilities
The administration & Finance affair is also accountable to the University president. This section overall manages or leads the administration section that include human resource management, property and procurement section, Technical & Facility management and Security, sanitary & beautification wing. Beside the above mentioned activities vice president for Administration lead the finance section which include revenue & cost directorate.
V/president for Research and Community service are one of the important sectors of the university which work on different research and community service issues. This section is accountable to the university president. The research, community service and industry linkage wing of the structure focuses on research publication, assessment-based community service activities and strengthening industry linkage between university and industry. This section contains two of the three pillars of the objectives of the university education.
Center for Educational Quality Assurance) (CEQA). The quality enhancement section is one of the essential sections that supervise the overall activities of the organization. It is accountable to the president. This section generally encompasses quality enhancement and assurance directorate, education resource development unit, capacity building and staff development unit. This section leads the curriculum revision committee of the university. This section tries to maintain the quality of education based on the ten areas in which it is used to enhance quality of education.
V/President for Digitalization and online learning. This section is a new section organized with the emergence of online learning modality as means of teaching and learning in our country. Online line is a modality that needs care and sensitivity when we are using it as a means of instruction. It is a modality that needs large investment to supply quality education. This section also manages the online and digitalization development in the university. As to other section it is accountable to the university president.
This section manages each activity under postgraduate programs. These are teaching and learning, advising of student’s theses. The section each year enrolls students for postgraduate programs and gives entrance exams for the candidate students. Those who passed the entrance exam are eligible to attend the postgraduate program. In addition to the postgraduate program, it works on international relations with different educational organizations which is used for experience sharing and capacity building.
